NAISDA is the leading First Nations arts training organisation celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges and wisdom through excellence and innovation in dance and performing arts education.
Working alongside NAISDA’s communications team, Cox Inall Ridgeway and Aboriginal artist Uncle Jeffrey Samuels we helped renew the NAISDA brand identity to mark their 50th anniversary.
The project centred on a contemporary interpretation of Uncle Jeffrey’s original Giddigool artwork, one that honoured his vision while translating it into a functional logo mark. This required a considered creative process: simplifying complex forms and distilling the artwork to its most essential elements. The result retains the cultural integrity and spirit of the original while delivering the clarity versatility a logo requires.
From this foundation a complete brand identity was developed. Drawing inspiration from Aboriginal culture and the natural tones and contours of the Australian country, the brand guidelines bring together a cohesive palette, typography and graphic elements that work as a unified system.
